GMP Principal Auditor
Salary: £42,708 £46,731 (depending on experience)
Hours: 36.25 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Central Manchester with travel around GM Region - Flexible arrangements are available.

Your role:
This is a unique opportunity to join an established internal audit team at GMCA. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Internal Auditor who is passionate about developing and delivering a high quality, innovative and value adding internal audit service.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a significant section of our diverse Police and Crime internal audit plan. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and working with other Internal Audit team members, you will be joining a highly regarded Internal Audit team with an excellent reputation and forward thinking approach to delivering audit assurance in the public sector.
Your key stakeholders will be within both Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and the Police and Crime Commissioners Office (PCC). You will deliver a wide variety of strategic, operational and advisory audit services.
About you:
Ideally you are a qualified internal auditor (IIA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent qualification), blue-light experience would be beneficial but is not essential. We are looking for an auditor who has proven experience and is highly motivated to deliver a first-class audit service. With good analytical skills and a proven ability to plan and deliver a variety of strategic and operational risk-based reviews working autonomously or as part of a team.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and capable of relationship building with a wide variety of senior stakeholders. You are agile and can apply your skills to new areas and topics and have strong technical knowledge.
To be successful in this role, you will have to
- Develop a good understanding of the different functional areas, the processes they operate and the culture they work in, identifying key priorities and areas of risk.
- Be involved in delivering audit assurance and advice across all areas, reporting to Force Command, The Deputy Mayor and GM Joint Audit Panel.
- Provide appropriate challenge and influence to ensure colleagues put the right improvement actions in place to address identified issues.
- Produce audit reports, which are concise, focus on key actions and add value.
- Continually look for ways of improving audit processes and specialist areas such as fraud and data analytics.
